Some of you might like to read this. A very impressive discussion of the
reparable nature of various glues and the joints in which they are used
joints.

It was there when he posted, but its written in one of those clear drying glues, mentioned in the article of course.

The article had a really short open time. Only the HHG users could get it!

C'mon Cameron...you've gotten yourself into a sticky situation now. Release the article!

I really like the idea the reviewer has of mixing several commercially available adhesives to benefit from the best properties of each.

His recommendation of having chickens flap their wings over the bonded area to decrease dry times is not workable for me, but perhaps some of you can do that. I really disagree that will increase joint strength, but I'm having a hard time finding a flaw in his testing methods.

Ok. I've recovered. Best laugh I've had in a long, long time. You guys are a
riot!

I can't re-read your posts or it rips me up again!

I'm actually quite glad I screwed up!

Hmm... that link doesn't seem to work. I'll try again. It's a 4 page thread
in the General Woodworking Power tools fourm, titled "Are Your Glue
Joints Repairable?"
So what does all this mean?

Mike
Use epoxy if you think it will be worth repairing in the future.
Of course the main subject was furniture, not guitars.

his prefered indoor glue, resorcinol, was in fairly common use when i was in school, and was what i used for perhaps my first 10 or so instruments.

his comments about the difficulty of repairing pva joints is very true. as pva has been the glue of choice in most factory instruments for the last 50 yrs or so there are many joint problems appearing, and it is a real pain in the glutiae maximae trying to scrape and sand the surfaces of loose brace joints particular in order to try to get them to adhere.

makes hhg look all the more attractive though, doesn't it.crazymanmichael39057.5110763889
